New Line’s His Dark Materials to start shooting in September..

Posted by – June 29, 2006

According to Variety,
New Line's other big adaptation, Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials,
will begin shooting in September with a budget rumored to be around the
$150 million (or about 83 million pounds) mark. Chris Weitz
is back in the director's chair having originally signed up and then
left due to the complexities of the visual effects (!). The film is due
out in 2007.

Update: New Line's press release mentions a bit more about the production.

Given the complexity of HDM, I wonder what kind of budget JS&MN would get from New Line..
